If anybody in Glasgow’s history deserves a spa treatment, city founder St Mungo (c.545-613) would top local lists. In between establishing a church in the “beloved green place of Glasgu”, Mungo had a knack of bringing small birds back to life, made frozen hazel branches miraculously spark into flames and saved the life of an adulterous queen whose tactless appreciation of a knight almost resulted in her execution. A man of such skills needs a lumbar rub.
